Filing Information

Run for Student Government

Overview

Filing for office is your declaration to participate in a race and a registration for how a student will appear on the ballot. After the filing period, a student who files is considered a candidate for office. During the elections, races are conducted for the offices of President and Vice President along with each category of seats.

A student may file for only one race per election.

Prospective candidates can use this form to file for office. The deadline to file is Friday, August 30th, 12:00 PM.

Note: Make sure that the name provided for your preferred name is accurate as this is the name that will appear on the ballot.

Determining How to File

A student should file for the office that best aligns with the role they wish to play in Student Government.

If you wish to serve on committees within Student Government to consider issues in detail or implement projects, serving as a senator may be more suitable. If you wish to represent the needs or perspective of your school and are willing to take on additional responsibility, running as a school senator may be most suitable for you.

While the election process is generally the same no matter which office you file for, your responsibilities may differ. See Student Government’s governing documents for more information.
